Each holiday season, NGS Cares partners with Freedom House to make the holidays special for refugees who’ve come to America seeking a better life.

We show our support by purchasing items for the residents at Freedom House. After we’ve collected the items, we gather at the Detroit City Clubhouse to wrap the gifts.

Join us for our inaugural tie-dye event benefiting the Ruth Ellis Center. The event runs from 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m. on June 24 at the NGS workspace at the Russell Industrial Center in Detroit!

2023NGS WRAPPING PARTY BENEFITING FREEDOM HOUSE DETROIT! 🚨🎁

This year, our Holiday/Wrapping Party for Freedom House Detroit will be from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, December 16 at Brew Detroit.

We are looking to provide gifts of robes, slippers, and earbuds for nearly 100 adult residents at Freedom House, and we've made purchasing the gifts incredibly easy once again!

You can either purchase any one of these items on our Amazon wish list (see link below) or find it elsewhere and bring it to the party! We are very excited to announce NGS Cares is putting on a Friendsgiving potluck for the Ruth Ellis Center community and we’re looking for volunteers/cookers!

The event will be Monday 11/20 at REC’s facility in Highland Park. Starting at 4 pm we’ll be feeding 80-100 members of their community. If you’re available to bring a dish (or send a dish with another contributor) please email us at ngscares@gmail.com.

So far we’ve got turkey, vegan stuffing, and greens covered—any other dishes are wanted and welcome! (Vegan, vegetarian, and meat dishes are all cool, desserts are also a must!

No food allergies, just let us know what dishes will have dairy or meat)

Also, the REC doesn’t have ovens so if anything needs to be warmed up it will need to be in a microwave-safe dish or a crockpot. Please reach out to ngscares@gmail.com for more information or if you'd like to volunteer!

The NGS sock, blanket, robe, and slippers drive benefiting the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center will be from 5-8 p.m. on Feb. 5 at Brewery Faisan!

Here are some of the items needed (new items only, please):

• Slipper socks with non-slip soles

• White socks (no elastic)

• Lap robes (48x48)

• Lap blankets

• Hair brushes

• Word search books

• Toothbrushes and toothpaste (travel size)

• Shaving cream and razors (travel size)

• Hand & body lotion (travel size)

• Shampoo (travel size)

You can bring all your purchased items down to Brewery Faisan during the event on February 5. We will also have an Amazon list up soon for individuals who can’t make it but would still like to donate.

With the season right around the corner, this is a great event for anyone new to NGS or DCFC to come down and meet/hang out with your fellow supporters.
